A Sense of Purpose: The Saturday Bounce this week was a great one! From the moment we opened the doors people started coming in, just too exciting….. This carried on up until 2pm when we officially closed as we were starting to get ready for a party that was booked at 3pm. But between 2 and 3pm a number of new faces showed up plus some regulars. It was impossible to turn them away so we just let them in until 2.55pm for free as disappointing a toddler is just a miserable thing to do.

The hours between 2 and 3pm actually turned out to be a great fun. Everyone that showed seemed so understanding that we had to close early and seemed happy that there kids could just have a bounce and play even if it was for a shorter time than they would normally.

At 3pm Katelyn, the little girls who’s party it was arrived with her Mum and Dad and promptly after that all of her guest also started to arrive. It was a really fun party! Katelyn, her parents and all of her guests clearly were having a great time. Being around parents and their children whilst there having such a good time is not only great fun but a great privilege!

It was at the end of the day when everyone had gone home and we were tidying up that it struck me how I enjoyed the day. I don’t just mean enjoyed in the context of having had a great night out with friends and then thinking ‘that was a right laugh’, or ‘We had a great time’. I mean I enjoyed it in the terms of ‘This is what I’m meant to do’.

That night I had trouble sleeping. I had excitement and shock that I had really found something that I love doing swimming around my head. Both myself and my wife decided to get into the play industry and because almost by definition there is a real element of fun attached to it. And without doubt, over the last five weeks that bounce a gogo has been running the Saturday Bounce it really has been so much fun, but this feeling on Saturday night wasn’t just about a sense of fun but actually a ‘sense of purpose’. Really profound sense that this is what I should be doing.

Children and parents having fun together as a family is a precious thing not just for the families involved but precious to be around. And then the best part of the weekend happened. I spoke with my wife about what I felt the next day and she said that the sense of purpose was what she now felt too! Wow, we’re going to be unstoppable! Bounce a Go Go is now more than about business or a way in which to make money it is now something that both myself and my wife love to do. Being around happy kids and parents really is a joy and providing a platform for this to happen is just wonderful and provides such motivation to us both.

I’ve always been very slightly jealous of people who have known what they wanted to do with their lives, who have purpose. This is now something that myself and my wife feel and we hope it shows in what we do and if you haven’t already, we hope you find what it is that you really want to do because I can tell you with certainty, it feels great!
